Double Headed Disco presents
A Funky Fundraiser
DJ Jeff Jackson and Disco Connie are hosting a special edition of Double Headed Disco to raise money for the re-election of Barack Obama. Four years ago we got together and danced and raised lots of money to get him into office. Let’s do it again!
Disco classics and funk favorites, plus bumper car runway and the usual shenanigans. It’s a fun and easy way for you to make a difference in this election campaign.
Saturday, September 29
10pm – 4am
Double Headed Disco
322 East 14th Street
between 1st/2nd Aves.
$5 suggested donation at the door
All money raised will be donated to the Obama For America campaign
Wish I could be there – but out of town. 4 years ago I helped at the door (and i somehow forgot the entry fee was “suggested” – and i made sure everyone paid!), and in total, the event raised $3K! This year’s goal is an ambitious $4K, and I am confident this team can do it! go – have fun – and support this.
someone’s been using the google to search for Jeff Gannon naked and landing on my blog….. ahhhh, 2005, so long ago!
On a late summer / early fall vacation, but can’t quite stay off the internet…… but the internet is SOOOOOO much nicer while inhaling the ocean, isn’t it?
Mmmmmmm, Bert Edwards getting “frenched” from a magazine called Frenching It
hmmmmpf. the thing i hate about these preconfigured “themes” is that I have a hard time customizing them….. I kinda like this better than the previous one I’d been using since I switched to wordpress, what was it, two years ago? Most notably because it takes better advantage of the real estate of the full screen – I’ve never been a fan of those skinny columns taking up only 1/4 to a 1/2 of the screen, with links, archive links, etc taking up just as much room…. so you can easily imagine what I hate most about this new theme – that the archive links to the right take up soooo much space, and in fact invading the post’s space! ugggggghhhhh! How do I fix that? and I kinda like my old background color for the title = 7e8594, if that means anything to anyone.
I know I’ve been neglecting this blog-thing a lot lately (ha! it’s been months, years), and this is in no way a promise to change that neglect (I mean, what the heck, it’s 11+ years old ferchrissakes!) but really, if anyone can help me skinnify the link column, or change the bgcolor of the title, I’d be ever so grateful!
9/15/12 update: ooooh, i figured out how to change the title background color, so it’s no longer forest green, but my old fave, #7e8594!
We got up early Saturday and headed out, getting up to the Catskills just shy of noon, so took a nice hike to Vernooy Falls
(although finding the trail head proved to be rather challenging!). Water was too cold and the rocks a bit too slimy for me to get in past my calves, but refreshing nonetheless. We spent the night in Pine Hill, then did a more adventurous hike (for us) to the Giant Ledge
. Not long into the hike, I recalled what someone remarked on one of the hiking websites: “if you have to use all four limbs, it’s a climb, not a hike!”
But well worth it once we saw the first peaks through the trees, and then on to the actual Giant Ledge. My partner got way way too close to the edge of that Ledge for my comfort, so I braced myself against some rock, and used the zoom to make up for the few feet.
