He was pretty fantastic wasn’t he? I really venerate the guy. What a legacy! To think he only appeared to two films before he founded Fox Studio with Bill Harrison. I’m dying to see his first film, “Ramrod”, which he made in 1973, before he appeared in Playgirl. It was the first gay porn flick to be filmed in 3-D. It probably doesn’t exist anymore. “Heavy Equipment” came out in 1977.

Looking at “Black Velvet”, it’s obvious that John Coletti/Traynor, could have been a successful porn star. I always maintain that from about 1975, through the early to mid-Eighties, was a golden period for macho porn. There was Colt, Target, the films of Joe Gage, and then his studio, Fox. There was such a concentration of rugged, iconic, aggressively virile men, in all-male films and magazines. It seemed to change with the advent of A.I.D.S. and videotape. You still had hot men in all-male entertainment, but since then, it just wasn’t quite the same.
