Dave Connors

The above pic is an uncredited Dave Connors, from Numbers Magazine, February 1979 – Dave’s first film seems to have been Dirt Bikes (1978), but then there’s several years without any movies, until 1984 (The Biggest One I Ever Saw!, One In A Billion, Boys in the Sand 2, and One, Two, Three…. I realize release dates and production dates aren’t always the same, especially in porno, but this seems like quite a gap in a porn career. Any ideas?

update: Skimming through Wakefield Poole’s Dirty Poole, I see that while Boys In The Sand II was made in 1984, it was mired in legal troubles for a good 18 months, not being released until 1985 – despite lots of press, and coverage in the gay porno magazines in 1984. One, Two, Three…, inspired by an idea by Dave Connors, was actually made in 1985, and released at the same time as Boys II. Before the movies were released, Dave Connors was diagnosed with AIDS, and committed suicide only a few days after the he heard the diagnosis.

If I were to speculate, two possible explanations could be either military service or jail time? Also possible that he only did the early scenes for the cash and tried to “go legit” in the years between his stints in porn. imdb says Dave was born in 1946, so that would have made him early 30s when he did these uncredited modeling shots and Dirt Bikes, and in his late 30s with the other films. But then again, imdb says he died in 1989 at the age of 43. I found a link back to your blog on the smutjunkies site referring to One, Two, Three and Wakefield Poole, where they (you) indicate Dave died in 1985 – what is your source for that info?

good question! I was pretty sure it was from Wakefield Poole, but pulled out his autobiography to be sure. Yup, according to Poole, after the filming of One, Two, Three… (1985), but before it was released, Connors was diagnosed with AIDS and committed suicide a few days later. Poole never made another porno movie.

That is so sad, but I’m glad you were able to confirm where you had read it. I sort of searched around online hoping to find some more info about Dave earlier today but came up pretty empty. If imdb’s year he died is wrong then I wouldn’t trust it for the year he was born, although it seems about right.

Maybe one of the magazines listed on his smutjunkies page would have had an article about him, an interview or something like that. You don’t happen to have any of those specific ones that you could dig up?

I was David’s roommate several years we lived in Winter Park he was never in jail he was in the Marines he was a little psycho at times, he burnt one of my rentals down I can tell you a lot more who’s ever interested

This is BJ’s blog, I’m the one who commented above but I can think of a few questions I’ve always wondered about Dave. Was he born in the 1940s, do you know his year of birth? Was there a special significance to the religious tattoo on his upper arm, was he particularly religious himself or maybe it was more ironic? I’m also curious about the gap between his first few film and magazine photo spreads and the resurgence in the early/mid 80s shortly before he died, as BJ’s post mentioned. You said it’s not jail time, did he re-enlist during the late 70s and first part of the 80s? I’m sure anyone active duty was barred from appearing in any kind of porn when they were conscripted, especially then.

I only knew of him from the porn work he did, his most iconic setting was for sure as the drill sergeant in Biggest One I Ever Saw but I developed a sort of a porn crush on him in One In A Billion, where he was in every scene. His scene partner from the van-going-through-the-car-wash scene (or someone claiming to be him) has left comments on xhamster saying how he deep throated Dave’s dick even though the director told him to only suck about half of it while the cameras were rolling so as to make it seem even bigger, what a mighty and beautiful dick he had. And of course his death was very sad, so many men cut short in their prime but I like to remember these guys as they were when they allowed themselves to be in films or have their photos taken. If you have your own blog or an online space where you’ve left some of your memories of Dave you could link to it, as I’m sure others who come by are also curious about his life from someone who knew him.

I was Dave’s other half in the early seventies, Don William’s I can prove every word that I say. We lived in winter park fl. I could tell you things that would blow your mind. Through grape vine,I heard he died of brain tumor.
