First of all, is this Paul Barresi aka Joe Hammer aka Derek (Eros)?
My compliments to you BJ! What a great resource. All the men I lusted for when I started “coming out” in the mid to late 1970’s. I love reading your comments and research findings. I also enjoy the contributions of your loyal followers.
I am also happy that, recently, there are so many websites (many that you and your contributors link to) devoted to posting images of hard-to-find film and magazine images.
While on a first year university class trip to NYC in 1979, I picked up a copy of the Advocate. While looking at the pink classifieds in the middle, I saw an ad for the services of Bruno. I almost fainted in the shop! He was one of my favorites. To think that if I had the money (which I didn’t), I could actually meet him. To me, this ad made him a real person, not just a hot picture.
I appreciate all the efforts you and your contributors are doing to promote and keep the memory alive of the stars (both major or minor) of the golden age of gay porn. You are not only giving them a second life, but are making them human. Sorry to the guys who are still very much alive and are still very much human.
Sometimes these magazines were the only contact to the gay community that isolated little gay boys in the cities, suburbs or rural areas had. We didn’t just jerk off to the pictures, but the articles and ads let us know we were not alone and communities of our people did exist. We also learned about our “culture”.
I grew up in the suburbs of the West Island of Montréal and realized I was not alone when I saw gay activists protesting and being interviewed on TV after the 1975 gay bar raids (an effort to “clean up” the city prior to the 1976 Olympics hosted by Montréal). Porn mags and these events let me know there were other options than trying to hide my feelings. I would someday find my “Tribe”.
Thanks to you and your contributors for all your time and effort.
Cheers, Tom

Bruno may well be still alive. There was an interview 4-5 years ago I saw on the net, but couldn’t find just now. IMDb just says “Bruno is an actor”. I think I just saw that he’d been lovers with Clint Lockner in real life. He was very popular, but I don’t think made ‘talkie porn’, so that his career may not have been in films. Or rather, I don’t remember any and never saw one, but B.J. will know for sure. I think the interview was around 2016, so nothing further. Never was my type, but has lots of fans among those who post here.

I did a google search of Bruno a few years ago. At the time he was still very much alive, still looking very good (if not better) and, if memory serves me right, is living in Florida.

HEY TOM! – glad you are enjoying the website! and welcome!

cover model is NOT Barresi – but unfortunately, I don’t know who it is – I just nabbed this cover photo, and a few others of California Scene from eBay, with no internal pages that might have given model or photographer info.

BRUNO BRUNO BRUNO – yes, still alive, and I missed my chance to meet him about 10 years ago at The Eagle (NYC) – I was too intimidated, a bit too tipsy, and had read he wasn’t cool with the “oh hey, didn’t you used to be Bruno?” – then a year or tow later, he uses a couple of old Colt pics on his BigMuscleBear profile…… and I do recall someone somewhere doing an interview, perhaps another blog….? I did snicker when looking at his age on the profile; would’ve made him about 12 when he did the Colt work!
