Bruno’s theme(?)

Bruno’s World – Director: Rip Colt (1975) Bruno & Toby

Even in this form, difficult to think of anything I’d rather wake up to. This light jazz is nice, much better than what I heard on the sped-up ‘Chute’, but it is not the music from the Best of Colt collection.

I’m not sure if you’ve seen this before, have you B.J.? Or maybe not all of it (which this isn’t, as I’ll shortly explain.) Pretty sure Zephyr indicated he hadn’t. In any case (or for any of your other regulars, some of whom will have seen this and some who haven’t), the film is extremely truncated, and the intensifying developments between the two models do not occur after the first sheet of Bruno mags placed together–what is it, 8 or 9, and several big poster-size sheets of these? in the full film, that opens up into Bruno’s standup solo on the beach (the Best of Colt uses the sounds of the waves before a big, bouncy music for him as he gradually takes off his swimsuit and pleasures himself, coming then lying on the beach.) I suppose shots of this would have been among the mag photos Toby is frigging to…That opening when Toby is walking from an 8mm ‘arcade’ is always nostalgic to me, with those Fried Chicken places, etc., and then he opens the door into this hidden outdoor inner sanctum; I always call this part ‘the Afternoon of a Faun section’, and in even the ordinary vhs you see much more vivid, brighter colour (much like what I was saying below about the Cadinot, but I hadn’t seen that in either vhs or dvd before–I’m sure it’s really pretty), and it’s this beautiful sunny L.A. cliché-day.

After Bruno’s jazzy theme on the beach (not like the mellow jazz accompanying the action on this clip, although this also peps up a little just before Toby gets up to go to Bruno), it switches to Toby still sitting and dreaming and pleasuring for a long time, and this is where the most evocative music is in the Best of Colt one. Those two solos (after the opening one with Toby) take up about 8-10 minutes themselves, and only then does Toby get up, now nude and goes to Bruno. I’d forgotten that it’s only after this light touching while standing, and then by the pool that they kiss. Probably the same location of the beach chair where Toby is first seen getting excited–love that cock hard while still in the pants. Then the rest is as in the original, with Toby coming on the mags and swinging his Prick with his jeans on, fly open. and pulling up the skin before fading out; that’s about 30 more seconds. So it had been a dream or fantasy.

Curious that there is no actual sex in this one, whereas there is a lot of sucking in ‘Chute’. I think the original ‘Colt Men’ magazine, which is almost all Toby except for a brief couple of pages with Scott Butcher, is what made Toby Parker’s idol. The mag also includes these shots of Bruno and Toby you’ve posted above and elsewhere, so it had already been made. When I first saw the Colt Men # 1, ‘Chute’ had definitely not been made, from what I can gather from Clone. I’ve never seen Toby without that bracelet, he was with his lover Bill for 22 years, so must have been something like a ‘lovers’ ring’.

“the intensifying developments between the two models do not occur after the first sheet of Bruno mags placed together” would have been clearer with ‘the intensifying developments between the two models are not shown in this clip as they are at this point after the posters of mag photos of ‘Gallery’. You two will have had much more experiences in looking at various versions of films than I do. I hadn’t remembered the rough length of the whole ‘Bruno’s World’, so was surprised when the important middle section was totally removed.

With Parisian confirming that the music that left an impact on him was in fact the music added onto the Best Of Colt collections much later, I assume that the music in this clip was either what played behind it originally, or perhaps in one of the collections of loops by a different studio before Colt released their DVD sets. The music in this clip is pleasant, sort of jazz-fusion sounding to me and seems a step above what you would hear in a lot of porn from this era, except for the cases where directors took actual pop or disco songs from wherever they wanted. It also sounds too good to have likely been made just for this scene, which leads me to think shazam might actually come up with a match for some of these musical cues, maybe?

Love the scene towards the end of this clip where you see the big phallus hanging out of one of their pants, swinging from side to side like it’s being used to hypnotize somebody? Talk about Big Swinging Dick energy lol.

Oh, cheri, Toby’s Prick has hypnotized me for decades, as you quickly noted and I, of course, have to work to shut up about. I don’t think anybody surpasses him for nonchalance, his Prick is like breathing for him. I’m glad you understand me so well…

Yes, I think this is just good pro jazz, not written for the film, but you’re right, even if it’s original to the movie, what somebody at Colt did later was much more effective still, because, as I said before, it follows beautifully the sex events. In any case, you still haven’t seen the long segments when both dicks come to full fatness and pleasure.

When somebody has a dick that beautiful, regardless of how big it is but in the porn world bigger has always been rewarded and praised, anyway the guy who is lucky enough to have a piece like that should be encouraged to haul it out whenever it’s appropriate for him to do so, and share it with the world. Many of us gay guys are the built-in audience for him and will offer to help however he wants, and likely write sonnets and symphonies and create paintings and works of art in honor of such beauty. You are right, Parisian, that I have not seen the full scene either but if they do actually get down to business that would be worth checking out sometime.

All those things have been done for Toby, at least by me, which I think I’ve written about here before, so will leave that for now.

Bruno and Toby never actually get down to business, as it were, and it’s true, with that kind of sacrosanct beauty, it doesn’t even matter as much (his photographs knocked us all out when they first came out in the 70s.) But Toby and Al Parker are a lot hornier and Parker goes nuts sucking that Masterpiece, Toby sucks his cock some and his ass too, and fingers Al’s ass a lot. At the end, they’re dressed and Toby kisses Al as they go to Al’s truck, and he’s like Al’s big brother and (literally) dream come true. Of course Toby takes all the worship as his just due. As well he should….

ah ha! some background…. I actually did try to find my VHS, found it, and tried to play – it had all sorts of issues – couldn’t tell if it was the tape (old), tape player (old, and no reliable way to clean heads), digitizing program (moody), or my Dell computer that wasn’t making it happen. SO i found I had a digital Bruno compilation that (seemed) to have the movie on it, and nabbed that off the compilation, and not realizing until reading y’alls comments that it not only didn’t have the music you’d been discussing, but also was shorter than the original. now that I am back in town, was able to give a quick look, and my VHS (dated 1988) is indeed a full 15 minutes, unlike the one uploaded about just over 10 minutes – that IS a huge amount missing! more (perhaps) later

Oh good. So you had seen it once upon a time. Do you like the music? I think it’s really beautiful as it reaches Toby’s climax, although Bruno has already shot his come before on the beach–which would also be in the part left out, and has a special funky-jazzy music just for itself. There’s just a whiff of the dream-music in your new/old one, when Toby goes to Bruno and they do a bit of frotting, which is pretty. Would love to have seen those two docking.

Yoooo I found them! The 1st is called Jazz Tones 144 C min, the 2nd is Prisim 104 G min and the last is Downhome funk 108 A min. They’re all from the same ‘band?’ Royalty Free Guitar. The downside is that they’re at a different key but whatever.

Bj, your link works but that’s not the music in ‘Bruno’s World’. This link https://play.google.com/music/preview/Tobxiackutdszynwguosndnqqxa?play=1 brings you to the album Royalty Free, Bass and Drums, Themes, Moods and Grooves w/BPM

Here you can listen without paying the 99 cents, so I listened to Jazz Tones 144 C min, Prism 104 G min and Downhome Funk A min

None of the music I heard on these tracks was used in ‘Bruno’s World’. They are all excerpts, it seems, given here, and most are between 1-1 1/2 mins. each. The 2nd and 3rd ones in ‘Bruno’s World’ in the Colt compilation (I assume that’s the one you mean, because that’s the one we were talking about) had some melody of a very fragmented sort, the first is just long drone-sounds as Toby walks through the streets and enters the ‘inner sanctum’ and starts looking through the Bruno mag and then pulls out his Prick. It stays with that until the Bruno beach frigging starts, but this first one was also not on the list under those titles.

Please explain, Manuel. Are you listening to the Colt compilation one? Because the ones I clicked under your titles are not on there. Thanks.

Now I see what happened. You found the music from the truncated film BJ posted. He found his VHS of the Colt compilation, which has entirely different, more dramatic and emotional music, or strong-funky as when Bruno does his beach-frig standing and lying down. The music BJ and I were talking about is not what you found, but it IS the music in the shortened clip above.

That’s very good to know, but we still don’t know the darker stuff that was remastered for the compilation.

Okay. That was good info too, but I hope you can see the longer version which also has 5 extra minutes, according to BJ. I don’t know whether the full version of that is at the Colt Store, but I would think they’d be showing the re-mastered version. The Toby/Al Parker also has an earlier version with different music, and that music is also much more effective–goes with the sex beautifully, not just background as these early loops’ music has been.

Meant to say that Chute with Al Parker and Toby also has the same background soft-jazz in the old loops, but this one is also re-mastered with much more effective music in its own Colt compilation.

I know Colt had Chute for rent, and probably still does. I don’t remember if they have Bruno’s World, but in any case, that’s probably the only way to see the newer and longer and better versions. I found a non-paying Chute, not on Colt, and the music for that is very poor by comparison.

oooh oooh – I have this (the longer version) – hold please (probably in my drafts folder)

here we go: LT-67_bruno – “a” 15-minute video at the link – who knows if this is the actual version that was discussed. I’m exhausted!

It may be just that I’m so old but I had so many “synth” records I collected as a child in the 70’s (I was a very peculiar child) which all later seemed to simply end up sounding like gay porn sound tracks. Klaus Schulze (body music had a breast on the cover!) Jarre (Oxygène, Equinox), but for the most delicious possible absurdity the album “Black Mass Lucifer” by Mort Garson was both wildly obscure even at the time, and I note now on Apple Music! The powers that be are running out of music to digitize and sell.
