from that great FOX STUDIO release – Afternooners (1982) – The Runner, pt 1 and The Runner, pt 2 starring one of my faves – Beau Matthews and a one-time performer, Chris Rutherford.
I am just copying and pasting, don’t know if this bit of PR for the film is accurate, but here goes:
“Chris Rutherford, envious of his brother’s fame when (Mark) soloed in ‘Muscle Up’ decided to go one better when he got out of the military. Chris seduces a runner one afternoon from his bedroom window by flashing his big hard cock, and turns the sex starved young runner (Beau) into a insatiable sex slave, not that he complained.”
I’m unable to find any good pics of the pair, except the tiny ad in the GEVI listing, and these screen shots. The 2 parts clock in at 30 minutes – but I tell you, Beau is worth your time!
shot on film.
oh yeah, blah blah blah, original music by Patrick Cowley blah blah…. (just kidding, have ALWAYS loved the soundtrack!)

(borrowing a phrase obsessed has been using around here lately when he swings by) WELL! Of course I appreciate the music (and I know you do too), even moreso now that these songs have been released as albums in their own rights. And we know the song titles which was info only Patrick (and probably John Coletti) knew when he had permission to use them to score his porn scene compilations for Fox.
I left a really detailed soundtrack comment on this 2022 post:
https://www.bjland.ws/wordpress/2022/10/18/primordial-landscape/
… with timestamps for which songs are heard when, in both School Daze and Muscle Up. But at the time I hadn’t gotten around to Afternooners, and this post reminds me that it’s something I never completed as I wanted to. Maybe like my version of your endless drafts folder?
I’d been looking for the detailed listing for the other two films anyway, so thanks for reminding me where I put that. Because I checked reddit (both the Patrick sub as well as the porn review one, which I haven’t done Afternooners yet so it’s not there either). But that’s because I stuck it here! Anyway, may as well start with your clip above, where I heard these songs:
start – 00.25 / Seven Sacred Pools [intro]
00.26 – 07.23 / The Runner
07.24 – 11.51 / Big Shot
11.52 – 18.20 / Surfside Sex
18.21 – 23.53 / Hot Beach
23.54 – 28.40 / Furlough
28.41 – end / One Hot Afternoon
Which, if the site I referenced in my 2022 comment was right, means that heard later are: Cycle Tuff, Bore & Stroke and Leather Bound. Plus the rest of One Hot Afternoon that cut off when you ended that clip and maybe a few repeats or even songs from the other films.
I remember that sometimes the names of the songs match up with the scene names but not always exactly, which made it a little confusing and why I think I kept putting this off. Plus Leather Bond (the scene) versus Leather Bound (the song title). And yes the sex is hot as are both of the guys, great scene to go along with the tunes. No idea if Chris was Mark’s ‘real’ brother or maybe in a Kip Noll has like ten brothers sense of the word though.
By the way, two other things: did you change the font here? It looks bigger and bolder now, unless I maybe tweaked a setting on this browser that only seems to show up when I come here.
Also when Obsessed uses the word ‘well!’ that way it always reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Bart and Lisa go to military school:

:D
no font change
LOL! I love this, Breezy Z! You know my narcissistic ego! I’m not going to be ignored! Great clip! Thanks! : D
Actually, I abbreviated myself. I’ve used this full phrase before (remember BJ?): “Well, I never! (…at least I don’t anymore. Don’t believe the rumors!)” : )
Don’t feel alone, zephyr! BJ is brutal, without mercy! “…yada, yada, yada!” : |
“…yackety-yack!” No, excuse me! I WILL talk back! : /
; )
Nice to know the continuation of ‘well!’ I’ll try to remember that. Though as scattered as I can be there are no promises. Love ya though friend :)
I’ll just tack this onto my reply back to you, as I found a decent quality clip on xham of the full movie. And I want to continue identifying the Cowley music heard later…
28.41 – 33.54 – One Hot Afternoon
33.55 – 38.40 – Leather Bound
38.41 – 47.06 – Bore ‘n Stroke
47.07 – 51.14 – Cycle Tuff
51.15 – 56.35 – Hot Beach (again)
56.36 – 57.35 – Furlough (again)
Then in the clip I found a different scene (shot on videotape) plays, this is listed on gevi as being Jim Moore and John Ray. Though I’m not sure that’s right as the promo description says John Ray was who Woody has credited as Karl Aflinn in the threeway scene. From this point to the end the music is clearly NOT Cowley though, I’m guessing this was tacked onto a re-release of the video by Sierra Pacific or another company even. Which increased the runtime to about 70 minutes.
