Ask Any Buddy

This has got to be my favorite gay porn poster. Halsted and Locke look incredible. I mentioned before that I actually first saw this advertisement in Variety newspaper of all places. I thought it was B-movie action flick for a second. That impression was reinforced by the illustration of the two men fighting on the right. It wasn’t until I saw the names Joe and Sam Gage and the “X” rating that I realized it was a porn film. I remembered the “Gage” name from a year ago (1977) in the poster for “Kansas City Trucking Company”. When are you going to post the complete picture of Halsted without his head cropped off, as it appeared on the cover of Alternate magazine?

OMG! That looks like an original film reel! It’s time that Gage took control of his entire back catalogue and re-mastered it for DVD perhaps even with commentary. He MUST realise the vast importance of his ealier work to the Industry in general and gay men of a certain age (ahem!) in particular? His early films deserve this attention (and so do we!).

Alas, Gage does not own the rights to his older films. In fact, Larry Flint bought out HIS (I believe) and there was a rumor that Flint might be interested in an actual re-mastering treatment, but it never happened. Now there is a repackaged The Working Man Trilogy that has the first 3 in one collection, but I have yet to buy to see if the “extras” actually amount to anything. Gage was definitely NOT involved in this repackaging effort!

And to be fair, I’d rather have what we have than nothing at all and Gage does move onward and upward (thankfully!). He’s still as kinky as ever and I love it!
