I am very intrigued how u have learned of Winn. He was my uncle. I’ve learned alot the last few years. Only want to learn more. He follows me. I’m not crazy, just honest. Please tell me more. Nicole
Most of what I’ve learned is from the internet – but he’s included in Clone: The Life and Legacy of Al Parker Gay Superstar as he was good friends with Al Parker. And some odd magazines here and there – like the November 1978 issue of After Dark a few pics of his artwork – Winn Strickland: Follies And Fine Art – doesn’t mention his AKA Mike Davis!
Strickland was the lead carpenter for The Carol Burnett Show & other variety 1970’s shows; he also built sets for Al Parker’s Surge Studios films. Strickland rarely talked in his films because he was self-conscious about a speech impediment. Steve Scott & Al Parker finally got Mike Davis to speak on film in Games (1983) just before he was diagnosed with AIDS. Al Parker & Steve Taylor took care of Mike Davis after he became ill. Parker used the money he sold Surge Studios to take care of Mike Davis then Steve Taylor.
