Mr. January

from In Touch – 1979 calendar – at least the first month lines up with 2024. I like that the traditional hole at the top for hanging didn’t go through his head – classy!

edit: OK, OK – while I don’t want to commit to posting the monthly pics (see comments) – here ya go – 1979 In Touch calendar zip file

not credited. perhaps a look through In Touch from 78 or 79 might show more of him… like his name!

“Classy.” Not the first word that comes to mind when I look at this, although I also love that the hole is not through his head.

I think the word was dick…duh-duh-duh-DICK!! Great BIG dick! Then my brain exploded.

Thanks Mister BJ!

I thought of that, but it won’t line up – this year, 2024, is a leap year; and 1979, of course, was not.

2024 is a leap year (February has 29 days) and 1979 wasn’t, so the days starting in March wouldn’t line up. Still, no reason not to publish the pics.

I’ve post a link to the zip file, bottom of post. Not disciplined enuf to commit to a specific post on a specific day!

I found a collection of In Touch magazines that were added to the internet archive recently, scans of every page of each issue if you (or anyone else) might be interested in that. As of now it contains 52 issues that can be selected from the list on the left side of the viewer, and then flipped through and enlarged (also right clicking allows you to open a specific page in a new tab). That’s what it looks like on desktop anyway. They aren’t in chronological order but each file name has the month and year of that issue, along with the “vol. x no. y” info. Some great pics and even porn-related articles and interviews scattered among the rest of the content. So many Jack Wrangler and Peter Berlin ads!

I’ve been flipping through these the past week working my way through the collection and have quite enjoyed it, their magazine seemed smarter than most of the skin mags from the era. But still delivered the goods on some very attractive guys. If I happen to find an ID for the big dicked Mr. January from your post I’ll leave a follow-up comment. Link for the first file, the 4th overall issue:

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! WOW, JUST WOW! LOVE IT! : 0

zephyr, my breath of fresh! You always blow me away! Let me THANK you profusely, before you and I, get kicked off from the left, reply column! Where the HELL, do you find these links! : D

Mercy, you’ve become quite an asset to BJ’s website! And to think I initially dismissed you, as just the weird guy, who enjoys music in porn (?)! And I thought “I”, was a “geek”! LOL! : /

It’s a testament to BJ’s wonderful blog, that he attracts such great commentators! Sorry for the delayed gushing! But I actually browsed through all the 52 issues, of In Touch magazines! According to GEA, not counting Special Editions, there were 329 issues published!

This is so endlessly fascinating! Not just from a horny perspective, but a cultural and historic one, as well! Since 1974, just imagine! The great advertising!

Lots of great camp appeal – the outrageous fashions alone! There’s always nudity involved, even for fashion layouts! “Ah Men – Ugh Clothes!” To think Ron Stevens/Cameron, actually modeled for some of these duds for studs! Vintage porn stars and nude models; did a considerable amount of moonlighting!

So many fascinating details! David Carter must have spent a fortune on advertising! You also have Jim Cassidy’s advice column, on bodybuilding! COVER: Issue #19 – Paul Barresi, #8 – Don Johnson; both are collector’s items! I used to own so many of these!

I hope this link will last. You can bet; I’ll be using some of these images, as reference points!

Thanks again, zephyr! Stay cool and breezy!

Ah, BJ – So many great posts, with great commentators, and their miscellaneous links and info. ! : )

So little time! : (

; )

To continue on what Obsessed was saying, one of the things I love about In Touch is how you can often see gay porn stars in their first appearance in the various features such as fashion, art or news, often under their real name. In issue no29 (1977) you can see the luscious Kurt Williams/Mike Adams as the winner of the Mr Nude America contest under his real name Mike Leber. That’s just one example. There’s just so much to discover.

Johnny and Obsessed, glad to know you enjoy that In Touch collection too. And I hope BJ doesn’t mind the occasional links when I discover them. The archive is brilliant once you learn how to search and use it effectively, a few other collections I landed on and bookmarked recently that may be of general interest to those who come here:

That last one was uploaded by a user that has more common gay magazine scans, which you can see when you find their user name hotlinked on the right side of the page as you scroll down. I saw Honcho, Mandate and Drummer and got very excited … until I realized that it’s mostly (if not all) the scans on Cowboy Frank’s website. Still great to have them on the archive but I believe I’ve clicked on most of the issues Frank has scanned before. Not sure if that’s Frank himself or maybe someone doing that on his behalf, with or without his knowledge.

– “the weird guy, who enjoys music in porn” well I definitely resemble that remark. I won’t leave any more links today but if you ever find the Rollo film Valley Boys, and were wondering what that song is that repeats every time a guy gets off, someone helpfully identified it when I reviewed that movie: Lalo Schifrin’s disco version of the theme to Jaws. Plus a lot of other music, almost all fusion and instrumental, with the only lyrics I heard being Ponty’s cover of As (again, that’s a few films that used that one) over the closing credits.
