con job

from the 1983 William Higgins film, Leo & Lance (“in the William Higgins tradition” of course!) – scene 5, with Eric Ryan, Rick St.Pierre (Rick St Claire in the magazine – in what might be his only pornformance), and Cal Barry (AKA Nick Harlen – who you remember from such films as The Intruers and The New Breed)

So many thoughts, first of all great scene. The whole movie is quite good in fact. I was never the biggest Eric Ryan fan but this is among his better scenes to me. As for the guy in the last pic I’m not sure if that’s actual cum dripping down his face and chest or not but it’s super erotic. And strange that of his three (known) scenes he used a different name in each: Cal Barry / Bill Harlen / Nick Harlen.

L&L is one of a few early Higgins films where Costello P. did not do the score, this was done by Michael Shadow. At least after Higgins stopped ‘borrowing’ existing music and audio as he did in his very first releases like A Married Man and Boys of Venice. A partial list of other porn films scored by Michael Shadow or just Shadow, since I think it was the same musician: Brother Load, Buster Goes to Laguna, Pleasure Beach, Printer’s Devils, Sailor in the Wild and The Young Olympians. And a few of his tunes are here:

Finally among the changes that happened in gay porn during the 80s, drug references gradually vanished as the decade progressed. So many films in the 70s and first half of the 80s had frequent depictions of pot use, treated casually as if it were common and no big deal. But then I think directors got spooked that it might be drawing unwanted attention to their films and the industry, and it died out for many years. Plus the issue of consent being raised as porn became more commercial etc.

Other changes during the 80s were the aforementioned music becoming original as opposed to stolen; recording on video as opposed to on film; and of course the rise of safe sex and condoms. But this comment is long enough ;)
