If this was a clue on Jeopardy, and I didn’t know but I buzzed in anyway, I would say, “who is Walter Mondale?” and then brace for my point total to decrease. Does it say Picasso over on the left hand side? Hmm, another stumper.
Speaking of stumpers, I’ve got another left field request for you BJ, if you don’t mind. One of the earliest music videos (pre-MTV, even) was for Cher’s roller-skating inspired song Hell On Wheels, and if you watch the video you will see a bunch of guys who either look like they could have done porn in 1979 when the song was released, or possibly some of them were in fact gay porn stars of the time? In particular one of the truck drivers looks familiar to me, like he may have been one of the older bearded guys in a Joe Gage film or something. Any info about this, or guesses as to who these guys may have been? Thanks.

The picture on the wall: George McGovern, I think. Worked for his campaign way back when in high school, shook his hand once. I remember noticing that he was wearing nice socks.
bing bing bing! I was 11, and nabbed a huge McGovern off a tree on my block where I grew up in Chicago – believe it or not, despite the antics in Miami that year, the Chicago machine still came out in full force on election day. Dispirited at the loss, a week later I sold the poster to my brother for a quarter.
oh geez! how awful! never heard of it, and my eyes, they burn, they burn! and my ears are bleeding…. but, in all seriousness, I don’t see no pornstars in here – I’d say they were going for a 30% porn/ 70% village people vibe – and I love the guys pulling off their sunglasses, spitting out their beer – “is that a man or a woman!” but after two views, no one looked familiar to me.
I figured if anybody would be able to spot a possible gay porn star from that time it would be you, so maybe they just put out a Village People casting call kind of thing. Some of the guys are pretty good looking, definitely a product of its time. I didn’t think it was THAT bad but thanks for suffering through it, haha.
And I don’t think my Mondale guess was too far off, seeing as how it was a white male Democratic politician from the 70s. I just guessed the wrong one. Nice job kraken!
