Including the sometimes hilarious and sometimes sexy fashion section. I love In Touch so much. Too Hot was great too, because that’s what you wanted after reading an issue of In Touch: MORE…of the nekkid stuff that is.

In hindsight I now noticed, how many vintage, nude models; didn’t look directly at the camera, with sexual intent. The Playgirl models would just smile, or lounge around. The AMG and other “physique” models, would just gaze off in the distance.
For me, Gordon Grant was the first model that I can recall, that made his intentions clear! He didn’t mess around! He meant business! He aimed, right below the belt – brutal!

Ad nauseam – As I’ve said before, I discovered him in a Colt ad, for the Advocate Newspaper in 1977. They used this famous pose, to advertise the loop, “Houseboat”.
As a guilt-ridden, confused, closeted, eighteen year old, I was so overwhelmed; that I almost couldn’t process it. It really felt like a mild form of shock. So many emotional and physical responses occurred – guilt, lust, excitement, shock, joy, fear, disbelief, awe, and yes, a little bit of sadness. I felt like I was short-circuiting.

I can remember feeling defensive. His stare seemed to be directed, right at me! It’s as if he was thinking, “I’m on to you, kid. I know your secret.” (!) To think, he was family!
I can’t deny; I had a heavy feeling in my heart. At that time, I was still playing mind games with myself, thinking I was bisexual – denial. His Majesty was the first porn star, to make me question my identity.
I now think my sadness, was a form of lamenting my innocence. In the back of my mind, I realized that no woman was ever going to make me feel; like I felt, looking at someone like Gordon Grant. I really was a homosexual. He pushed buttons, I didn’t know I had!
And to think, this Colt photo isn’t all that explicit. Yet it still impacted me, so powerfully! No other porn star did as much, before or since! I didn’t realize he as was well-hung, until later – face, body, and dick!

I wasn’t sure I knew that song by its title and artist, but when it started it did sound familiar. There are for sure covers that are at least as good as the originals (if not better) but most of the time I’d say you’re right, nothing holds a candle to the original.
Teena Marie was great but most of what I know from her are her early songs, especially I Need Your Lovin’ (M-O-N-E-Y never did a thing for L-O-V-I-N) and Lovergirl. I didn’t know she had recorded the song in the 90s though. Of these I probably like the Elegants cover the best. And how sad that the original singer, Linda Jones, died so young from diabetes apparently.
When I think of music related to the word hypnotize the first thing to enter my brain is Notorious B.I.G. since that was such a massive hit the year he died young too (and samples the horn from Herb Alpert’s Rise). May not be your cup of tea but going on 30 years later it was hugely influential on hip hop from that era and what came later.
Of course none of these words or links have anything to do with Gordon but just follow-up on your tangent, which I’m certainly guilty of myself here.
