“Spider Taylor crawls over to Dark Entries with Surge Studio Music, an album of archival gay pornographic soundtracks. – Spider Taylor – Surge Studio Music – In the early 80s, while working at the West Hollywood gay sex club Basic Plumbing, Taylor met Al Parker, the legendary pornographic actor and director, who recruited Taylor to produce the soundtrack for a film he was working on. Parker’s partnership with Steve Scott running Surge Studios produced some of the most popular all-male films of the era. Spider’s music was a natural fit for Surge, and throughout 1985 and 1986, he composed the soundtracks for five films produced by the iconic studio.” (check out the rest of the info at the link)
I highly recommend going over to Dark Entries to purchase this LP or CD – or both! (I ordered mine last night – Tell ’em BJ sent you!) Also available at bandcamp – where you can sample the tunes; whatever you do, avoid the big behemoths and support the small businesses that treat the artist better (higher percent of sales)
Meanwhile, to get a pre-Dark Entries mix – check this out on soundcloud

I know if I set my mind to it, I could get the five films – meanwhile, here’s one where Spider seems to have had some help? soundtrack: Spider Taylor & The Hollywood Foreskin Ensemble

I’ve listened to these tracks a few times now, they sound fresh and in some cases quite modern. Which shows how talented and ahead of the curve Spider (& Michael) were with their music. Coming Soon seems like what plays behind the preview for Strange Places, Strange Things which I got from you, and tacked onto the end of that soundcloud clip. Of course that doesn’t sound nearly as good as DE made these sound after remastering the originals but the preview has snippets of the dialogue and Al’s narration as well. I also particularly like the 20-minute-plus version of SPST which I guess also comes in a shorter 4 minutes and change version.
