a reader asked for more on Dwan, and I was going to save this pic for a fuller post, perhaps videography, but this is such a rare, good shot of his handsome face. Rare in the early years of video to have such a hairy fucker, I can see why there are fans who can’t get enough.

Just to be sure, Dwan is looking at the camera and the other guy is kneeling over him?
I’m looking both at his profile and his reflection in the mirror and having trouble seeing it, but maybe it’s for the lack of the mustache??

I was wondering how much you knew about the Rollo Productions line of ‘Midnight Special’ tapes, or if you had any of them (now or in the past). Six of them listed on gevi, each seem to be only 30 minutes but are individual scenes and not compilations, as best I can tell. The one I reviewed the other day linked below, says ‘only 39.95!’ on the box cover, which admittedly was considered a bargain by the videotape prices of the mid 80s. But the trade-off being that it’s only a half hour, and other studios like Laguna Pacific were churning out hour long plus tapes the, sometimes up to two hours even.

I’m not sure if I ever saw any of these unless they may have been compiled after 1984, in some other tape or by another company that bought the rights to Rollo’s titles. Dwan is listed as one of the guys in this one (on gevi anyway, the clip I found is missing credits so I’m not 100% sure that’s even what it is, but probably). He’s the main top / master and wears a leather hood throughout the first half of the clip, but there are a few moments where his face is visible in the second part. And besides it looks like his chest hair, stash, dick and big cumshot. Kind of a weird or offbeat one that was new to me, just wondered what you knew about them or if you’d seen this or any of the others before.
quickly – I don’t recall seeing or owning any of the Midnight Specials. I have seen this clip, probably downloaded for a future look to figure it out. Taking a quick look at your reddit review, and the video itself, I don’t see DWAN; admittedly I skimmed, but the look is very very 70’s, not 80’s – the voiceover actually sounds like the same guy from the Magnum Griffin loops once they were put on videotape. I’ll take a closer look, but they seem to be purposefully avoiding the “master’s” face, so not sure the motivation if its DWAN and he’s going to be the star of your 30-minute special. I was unable to see his face, but will check again, you mentioned latter half we get glimpses? IF you are onto something, perhaps it was The Leathermen, if not culled from a previous movie, was filmed around same time as CHAIN REACTIONS (which was on videotape, not film). Quite a puzzle, and I definitely want to help figure this one out!
and I’ll be the first to say don’t believe video box covers, or even publicity pics, but – from SKINFLICKS – his outfit just doesn’t match the film
I’m beginning to think you may be right (which, according to Billy Joel, means I may be crazy…). I just rewatched the clip and have a few additional notes:
– there are some brief glimpses of the master, he takes the hood off in the 2nd half but the shots of his face are fleeting. He seems to keep the belt on even after removing the hood, and later the jacket.
– on closer inspection it doesn’t seem like Dwan was the master after all, rather the one I thought was him is the guy who gets fucked by the younger guy with the blond-ish buzz cut in the second half, who is chained to the top of the cage. While the master goes at the other guy. The final minute of the clip (I found the same one I linked to in my review on ‘thisvid’ as well’) is the closest to a face shot of this guy, stash and hairy chest but whether it was Dwan is now less certain to me.
– one reason I thought I was right was when I went through the other Midnight Special listings on gevi and saw Tony Kennedy’s name on a different tape, as mentioned at the bottom of the pic of Dwan in leather from your reply. I guess I thought ‘Tony’ and then the ‘Rocco” from the title of the clip, may in fact have been ‘Rollo” and if was hand-written, somebody just flattened their Cs? If that makes sense. So maybe the tape had multiple of these Midnight Special tapes on them…
– or I’m just wrong, and your hunch about it being earlier than 84 or even a Magnum Griffin tape would be more likely to be right. That narration and the dubbed voices were pretty amusing, but the clip itself has some hot sex and more hardcore S&M than a lot of films did, at least by the 80s.
– gevi’s company page for Rollo indicates nothing after 1984, I wonder who started the company, or who bought out their films after they finished making movies themselves?
This does seem like a mystery now, I still wish I was right but I’m beginning to think I missed this one, maybe we’ll put our heads together and figure it out someday. And if this isn’t from one of the Midnight Special clips, now I kinda want to see one, figured you may have run across one of the tapes at some point. Thanks.
