Lonesome, On’ry and Mean

A couple quick things regarding Le Voyeur (1982)

  • sorry its got that crawl over it (my vhs copy is buried somewhere – would appreciate a clean digital version !); but is there a better opening sequence in vintage gay porn?
  • This tune – Lonesome, On’ry and Mean, from Steve Young;
  • adorable and would’ve never been in a Falcon film in the 70’s, 80’s or even today – one film for bear Pete Connors (who we see off and on, and a quick scene topping Johnny Kovacs) – see below
  • more music to be discovered
  • how did Daniel Holt get billing above Pete??!
  • Oh, and can you name the bars, whether any are still around?
  • and finally, did Pete walk at that pace all the way from the West Village to West 49th Street?

That song playing in your second clip, where Johnny K. gets his jeans ripped then fucked, is SO familiar but I can’t place it. Instrumental songs tend to stump me the most since I have never used those song i.d. apps or programs, and no lyrics to search. I’m sure you know it though. My blind guess is the MG’s either with or without Booker T. but clicking around some of their songs I couldn’t match it up. Curious to hear more about the music sometime when you’re better able to type again. Anyway to answer a few of your questions:

” is there a better opening sequence in vintage gay porn?” – this is a great one, sort of Bob Dylan-esque maybe but I’d nominate Grease Monkeys, with the crew strutting down the sidewalks to the Pointer Sisters disco hit Happiness. I appreciate how fun that turned out even if Lee had trouble keeping in pace with Nick and Kip, they all looked great in their snug jeans.

“how did Daniel Holt get billing above Pete??!” – maybe because he had the bigger dick? I’m not saying it’s fair but Daniel would have won a dick measuring contest against just about anybody I think.

“did Pete walk at that pace all the way from the West Village to West 49th Street?” – if so it must have taken him hours to get there! At least it didn’t look like too cold a day when they filmed this.

I recognized a few of the bars with obvious signs but I bet a ‘native New Yorker’ or someone who lived there at the time would find even more. Obsessed mentioned Parisian the other day, I have a feeling he’d have been able to identify lots of the gay landmarks. And I miss his comments here too.

ha! i edited that with sound off – then i got a big laugh! “theme” from Closed Set – Left Overs (Bucaramanga) from The MG’s (1974)

Yes that’s it, and you even left a link to the audio when you noted it from the end of Closed Set a few weeks ago. Which was when I had heard it recently and why it sounded extra familiar. Thanks!

LOVE these clips. I agree about the credits. So much fun when they got creative with it and one of the things I like about 70s/early 80s films. The only thing that can be said for video credits is that they sometimes put a face with a name.

I agree somewhat with Zephyr about the top billing – Daniel was either the bigger dick (although Pete Connors’ dick is mighty thick) or the bigger “star,” Daniel Holt having already been in films? Or both?

Goodness, Pete Connors comes off very tough and forceful! And he’s strutting around like he owns the place. That’s quite a pelt too. I would’ve loved to have seen more. Too short a scene! He’s in more scenes than that, surely. ALso, his pairing tube sox with leather drag in the still photos tickled me. Works a little better with the jeans and tank as an overall look. I mean, why not tube sox & leather? What else is he supposed to wear?

I’d love to see the full thing one day. Great post!

Sadly I don’t really know NYC…much at all.

When I was 17 I tried to take a cab from Penn Station to Rockefeller Center and the guy was just going around and around the block. I didn’t realize how close it was! Eventually I got the nerve to get out. I was shocked at how blase he was at ripping me off. He saw me coming a mile away.

ALso, saw a dead body on the street once.

Rode the subway once. It was terrifying. Mostly because I thought it would be. And because I was sure I was gonna’ get lost. Which I did.

My best memories are of Broadway shows and good food.

I am not a city boy.
