A Winter Place (1973) Keith, Dean (Dean Chasson) and Skip – found in FVP027 Out of Control (Dimension Collection 3)

I’m surprised there aren’t more comments. I think the Dimension films are just not well-known, if they ever were. I remember when I first became a Falcon fan, I didn’t pay much attention to the Dimension collection. Maybe I wasn’t yet into the older films? But it’s early Matt Sterling, and whatever you think about him, he made a huge impact on gay porn.

I’m also a Dean Chasson fan, even though his all-American good looks are not my typical thing. He’s just so undeniably good looking. And he’s a good performer from what I’ve seen.

Is it just my imagination, or is the whole *in front of the fireplace* thing (for couplings or 3-ways) in a scene used quite a lot in 1970s gay porn? Or maybe all throughout the history of gay porn, like the whole pizza delivery/repair man/mail man/etc trope? Or like the many, many poolside settings. I can’t remember seeing it in recent years though. Seems like a 1970s and 1980s thing. Just an observation.

I really like the idea of re-visiting, or in many cases seeing for the first time, these early 70s films such as the films by Dimension. This is an unusually long film loop, isn’t it? Almost twice as long as many others. One of the thing I love about vintage 1970s gay porn is how unrehearsed they can be. They are not as choreographed. You can see real passion often and enthusiasm, with lots of different positions, and different types of men. (Although the 3 in this film are pretty similar, but not in a bad way). Roles were more flexible and there seemed to be fewer stereotypes. It was less of an industry back then, perhaps, compared to now. Not that I don’t enjoy today’s porn as well. There’s more amateur porn being made today than maybe ever before. Of course, you also come across (ha) plenty of really bad films as well, both then and now.

I guess I should also acknowledge that in today’s porn there is a lot more variety. There is sooo much porn being made, and you’ve got older men accepted and so many race types, in some cases body types, depending on where you look. It’s not like things were perfect back then and they suck now. Whatever. I find it all endlessly fascinating. What the hell is wrong with me? Haha.

I enjoyed this one, and I hope we continue to explore Dimension Films and other lesser-known studios. Thanks BJ!

Now I’m seeing on GEVI that the studio was Brentwood, so what makes it a Dimension film? I’m very curious, but I know there might not be much more to know other than what GEVI has reported. Oh, wait. I see. Brentwood is listed as the studio for the whole collection, not each individual film. OK, yeah. Dimension was it’s own studio. Matt Sterling. Have you ever done a director’s profile on him? Don’t answer, I’ll check for myself.

I really like the hot, curly-haired brunet. Spectacular cum shot at the end. I also thought the music was unobtrusive and the dubbing nice and subtle- not much more than oohs and aahs and breathing, aside from some noises that were maybe supposed to be slurps but sounded more like microphone fumblings. Overall really good!

Thanks again for sharing that!

Distributor vs. Producer.

Presumably licensed to distribute, so in this case Brentwood, Bob Anthony, and later, Falcon distributed; Dimension produced the film.

That’s one reason (out of many) that get irritated that Bijou, and others get credited for producing when in fact they are distributing. (Later, in the 80’s Bijou did make some movies)
