A Little Romance

A Little Romance – a scene from Tom Desimone’s 1980 film, Wet Shorts – featuring RON ZALE (AKA Lee Brubaker ) and J.W. KING on a bear skin rug.

“There is nothing like the peace & quiet of your own pad with its flaming fireplace — and its red hot Adonis to lovingly defile the peace and wantonly violate the quiet! Our Lothario and his lover ignite and then quench the flames of their desire.”

  • Midnight And You – Love Unlimited Orchestra
  • – actual fucking-no-music sounds for 2 minutes

Those sound like the correct songs, on both versions of the film from what I can tell. The original 90 minute one and the slightly shorter re-release. Though I’m not sure if other music may have been replaced – and if it’s shorter I wonder what got cut? I know that Casey Scott has commented here before, did you find his review at letterboxd? He lists a few more songs (including a third one by Barry White/LUO), from this and other scenes:

So I’m glad to have musical info about another film beyond just the two songs I could tell on my own. Maybe I was a bit harsh about this scene in my review, it’s definitely romantic and they both look great. Plus that curveball dialogue at the end, asking when JW’s lover would be home.

So regarding the magazine that (apparently) Bob Marsh in the gray shorts, flips through in between the scenes. Is it Skin, Vol. 1 No. 4? There are very brief shots of the front cover, and it seems like a match for this one except for the printed words on the cover:

And I wonder if the ‘Kit’ credited for the title art in the film, was the artist who sketched those pages of the magazine that show the name of the upcoming scene. I don’t know if I’ve heard of a Kit in gay art, at least from that timeframe.
