Primordial Landscape

Leather Bond (1980, film #403) – starring Tom LeDuc AND Tex Murdock.

All I am saying is I am NOT going down that rabbit hole, trying to figure out why Leather Bound is not the music for this film – AKA Leather Bound, but Primordial Landscape – I’m sure there are REDDIT threads wrestling with this, and other Patrick Cowley mysteries – but no – not going down that rabbit hole

LISTEN to the music alone from the film – Primordial Landscape – and I’m sure someone can tell me which film Leather Bound played on. Oh, and another thing…! what’s with NO PICS – NO PICS of any decent quality of TOM and TEX together????

Short answer (the TL/DR in reddit lingo) is that for some reason, the scenes Leather Bond and Furlough are SEEN in Muscle Up, the Fox film. But the Cowley songs Leather Bound and Furlough are HEARD in Afternooners. Much longer answer to follow ..

(and by the way, thanks for checking the Joys Of Self Abuse for more of his music, very interesting that they apparently looped a few of the songs instead of lifting the whole Afternooners soundtrack as I had thought)

OK so what seems like a definitive source for the total Cowley songs that are heard in the three Fox films that are known to have his music (School Daze, Muscle Up and Afternooners) would be this link, to the Dark Entries soundcloud page, where they did a megamix of all the porn songs in random order:

See the note below the clip, you may have to ‘show more’ to see it all. It lists the name of each porn song by Cowley as well as which film the song is heard. So I have detailed notes for the first two, School Daze and Muscle Up, with time stamps. But not Afternooners for some annoying reason, maybe I just can’t find it, anyway. For School Daze, it’s as follows:

Mockingbird Dream [beginning – 00:39]
Seven Sacred Pools [00:40 – 01:04]
School Daze [01:05 – 04:41]
Journey Home [04:42 – 21:42] (slower speed)
Somebody To Love Tonight [21:43 – 29:16]
Journey Home [29:17 – 43:05] (normal speed)
Somebody To Love Tonight [43:06 – 48:55]
Mockingbird Dream [48:56 – 52:44]
Deep Inside You [52:45 – 59:34]
Zygote [59:35 – 1:07:22]
Nightcrawler [1:07:23 – end]

And for Muscle Up:

Seven Sacred Pools [00:34 – 16:50]
Pigfoot [16:51 – 24:50] (looped twice)
Seven Sacred Pools [24:51 – 25:10]
Primordial Landscape [25:11 – 39:54]*
Seven Sacred Pools [39:55 – 40:06]
Cat’s Eye [40:12 – 45:35]
Tides Of Man [45:36 – 48:15] (slower speed)
Cat’s Eye [48:16 – 53:10]
Tides Of Man [53:11 – 56:06] (regular speed?)
Seven Sacred Pools [56:15 – end]

* the last minute and a half of this sound a little bit different, there’s an additional synth note that isn’t heard in the regular version

The shorts called Muscle Up and The Quarterback run until 24:51, so the music heard in those scenes is Seven Sacred Pools during the scene Muscle Up, and Pigfoot plays for the QB. The Leather Bond scene (that you posted above) goes from 24:51 to 39:54, so after about a 20 second reprise of Seven Sacred Pools you hear Primordial Landscape, along with the slightly different version over the end. The Furlough and Jeff York solo play until the end, so those songs are what is heard then.

I need to do this for Afternooners too, but if you take the soundcloud link at its word, the songs heard during the film Afternooners are, in no particular order:

Surfside Sex
Big Shot
Cycle Tuff
Furlough
Bore & Stroke
Leather Bound
The Runner
Hot Beach
One Hot Afternoon

… which corresponds with the first nine tracks on the Afternooners album release.

Some unknowns – why Cowley spelled it Leather Bound when the scene is missing the U and called Leather Bond – why the songs used don’t always match up with the films they wound up in – where the other songs from the Dark Entries collections came from if not th e porn films (maybe Cowley mailed everything to John Coletti and he just didn’t use them all) – the exact order of the songs in Afternooners and how they match up with how they are placed on the album of that name.

Confused? Welcome to my world :D I hope the info I provided here helps narrow some of the specific music usage down though, even if it’s buried in another insanely long comment.

(and yeah, this is all scattered about his subreddit too, along with lots of my own version of porn-crazed ramblings about him from time to time)

FOX – how I love it, please more clips of that!

Maybe you could do some trips to the latin scene – Kristen Bjorns first movies in the late 80s and starting 90s and maybe you should display one of those and their actors too.
