wanna fuck? I’ll meet you in the living room in 10 seconds

Drive (1974) – so this is one of my favorite clips – not a hot n heavy sex scene, though it does have some sex in there – but just the wonderful editing of visual (editor Robert Alvarez) and music (David Earnest / Stan Freeman) – I just figured if you aren’t familiar, I’d give you a heads up that sex isn’t the focus. Can’t believe it was 16 years ago I posted this clip – how long have I been….

Behind The Greek Door (1975) – a clip from a Clay Russell movie with no Clay Russell in it! I’ll have to dig out a scene with him in it, all hairy-backed and all. But meanwhile, this is again a favorite scene, because the music just hits. (If interested in earlier rambling on the topic click through to this old post – Clay Russell to Bjork) Anyhow, I know its a tiny tiny touch, but I love how they bring the tune, Also Sprach Zarathustra, into the scene.

Zoomerang (1974) – Ok, 3 clips, all where the sex, if there is any, is secondary at best – why not! This clip uses Love Unlimited’s Under The Influence of Love; and the film uses other pop music from the era. HA! just re-watched the clip, forgot it includes some Pink Floyd, as well.

Another great collection of clips, these have been wonderful posts to have a few classics to choose from at a time. I’m impressed by your sleuthing abilities on i.d.-ing a vaguely familiar instrumental track twenty years ago, shit that was even before youtube! Was ‘audio galaxy’ a site like shazam where you could snag audio files? Lyric searches have helped me place some music over the years but of course, not realistic when searching for songs without singing.

Oh, and I’ve been meaning to ask you if you are still as into Bjork as you were in the early iteration of your blog? That was a decidedly non-porn angle to who you were then, and I enjoyed reading your posts about her. Whale watching too, now that I think about it that was another sidetrack into your other interests that made you seem more human in the days back when when I found your online. Bjork’s got a new album out, or coming out soon, I read something about it a while back. I always liked her ok and have a lot of respect for her, but was never as much of a fanboy for her as other guys I’ve known.

Thanks for the links, looks like maybe I should review Green Door sometime soon! If I can find it out there that is. My music notes for Zoomerang:

– beginning to 3:11 – Love Unlimited Orchestra, Love’s Theme (one of those ‘oh yeah THAT one’ instrumental songs that everyone has heard I think)

– 4:55 to 6:46 – Buddy Holly, Well All Right

– 21:10 to 25:53 – Love Unlimited (not with the orchestra), Under The Influence Of Love

– 30:16 to 33:11 – Pink Floyd, Breathe In The Air

– 57:50 to 1:01:48 – The Carpenters, Top Of The World

nice job on the tunes!

BJORK????? heck yes, love the new album! but, got so much pushback previously, and not really interested in anyone else’s opinions of her or her music (really? still talking about the dress??!!) that I don’t. but always get her new stuff, and delve in deep….

I dated a guy briefly who was as into Bjork as I’ve been into Madonna, Cher and some of the more traditional gay divas. He got really defensive about her, it was around the time she was amazing in Dancer In The Dark and even if that’s the biggest film role she ever has, what a triumph that whole film was, including her performance. She’s delightfully weird and doesn’t give a shit whether anybody else approves, just does her own thing which is why she’s carved her own path the way she has. And I loved that swan dress, any haters wouldn’t have had the guts to wear it themselves. Her voice, OK, that’s where I start to fall off the Bjork train because she can sound like some kind of wild animal in pain at times. But like I said, mad props to the weird kids in school who just own it. Glad you’re liking her new album too.

um, ok. so now you can see why i stopped posting about her! too much talk about the non-music, and then something kinda, well. you get it. So I just blast the stereo until the neighbors start pounding on the walls! oh wait, that was apartment living!
