Reading some of those comments you linked to I was glad you reminded me to identify the songs that are heard in the Afternooners film, and when. Since as I said they don’t always match up to the scenes with the same names in the Fox film. Most of that clip of Mickey (which is great!) has Surfside Sex playing but around 6 minutes in it changes to Hot Beach.

Next week is the anniversary of Patrick’s death in 1982, among the earliest notable people to have died of AIDS before it was even called that yet. He was sick for most of the last year of his life, and the story goes that Sylvester visited him while he was in the hospital and said something like: You need to get your skinny ass out of that bed and go make me another hit. So he had this final burst of creative energy in 1982 that produced:

-Do You Wanna Funk with Sylvester on vocals
-the entirety of the Mind Warp album, his last while he was alive which included Tech-no-logical World
-all the songs on Afternooners (there’s one song on Mind Warp that is also on Afternooners but I always forget which one until I hear it)
-and his producing and music for Paul Parker, Loverde plus others

Only the first nine songs on Afternooners are in the film, the last three were made at the same time but for whatever reason not included. So he actually made that music for the porn soundtrack, unlike School Daze and Muscle Up which were older demos he had laying around and sent to John Coletti, without having porn in mind for them.

Dark Entries just put out another Cowley collection, Hard Ware which came out on his birthday last month:

The song ‘Tech-No’ is the demo version of Tech-no-logical World as an instrumental, without Paul P.’s vocals. I’ve listened to all the songs at least a few times, there are some great and obscure tunes. Every time I think DE is running out of his unreleased music they add another one to his body of music which is great to expand his recognition beyond the NRG music which is great, but he had the ability to make music in different styles too.

I will say something about the clip while I’m here, that cockring around Mickey looked very tight! Made him hard but those metal ones are a bitch to get off if they aren’t big enough.
