Remember when you and all your buddies would hang out in your car all of you totally naked? Those were the days.
What, no? That never happened to you? Well, that’s what gay porn is for.
Seriously, I’ve always thought the circle jerk with all of them on their knees in front of the car was a hot image.
Most of these youngish, smooth, hardbodied guys kind of blur together for me, But I think that’s kind of the appeal here. There are a few stand-outs for me:
Eric Branden does it for me- if you can spot him. And Mark Davis has a great body and maybe with a haircut would be even hotter. And of course, Curt Hansen who we know from Old Reliable and who shows up later in Job Site. He provides much needed mustache relief. And Brian Hawks is the superstar I guess. Never really been a huge favorite of mine, but he certainly has his talents and assets!
I can *almost* understand why Midnight Men wanted to change the name. Bad optics I guess, and I admit that I might be more likely to buy “Brian’s Men” based on that title alone and with my specific interest in mature men. But otherwise, NO. I hate those re-release, re-name, re-edits. If you’re gonna re-release an old classic, you don’t change anything. You re-master or enhance, but that’s it.
Fun though. I’m still thinking about that circle jerk. I could almost see that happening in real life. A bunch of straight guys “racing” to the finish line.
It is frustrating when companies rereleasing earlier films do more than just sharpen the picture and sound quality, and go overboard with other changes. And Midnight Men had a reputation for slicing and dicing unnecessarily. Unless part of their motivation was condensing films so that the video copies used less tape? Which I think is something BJ has talked about before, it’s somewhat of an explanation but a pretty weak one. There are many examples of films being first released with the word ‘boy’ or something close to that, then later versions omitting that reference and changing it to ‘men’ even though (hopefully) all the performers were of age when it was made. I bet the number of straight porn movies containing the word ‘girl’ numbers in the hundreds easily and yet it doesn’t carry the same overreaction from distributors or companies that later acquire the rights to repackage the content.

… has five of his theme songs, but not this one unfortunately. Most of them sound fundamentally the same, a short verse, a chorus that repeats the film title, maybe a second verse or a bridge later. His voice is rather distinctive though so even when he wasn’t credited it’s possible to tell others that he did. Night flight awaaaaay, night flight awaaaaay might be my favorite, with Getting It as a close second. I wish I had better copies of the films when I did that because the audio quality varies wildly, some are decent while others (especially Aspen 2) are awful but at least there’s a sampler platter online somewhere of a few of his ‘porno hits’.
I haven’t reviewed Brian’s Boys (yet) but a few of the scenes are in a clip I found on gayforit, along with other scenes. I don’t think this came from a porn release but rather from somebody just playing around with video editing software, a few people commented and helped me fill in the holes in the table that initially had me stumped. But the Brian scenes were pretty easy to figure out, largely due to that old blue car (which there are enough shots of that somebody must have determined the make and model by now) and Brian Hawks and his big dick. Aaron Gage would be my second choice, I liked him and recognize quite a few of his gay titles. Anyway the link to that post I mentioned if anybody wants to see that:

Another offender was HIS Video as we’ve discussed here before. I remember seeing a film on VHS and thinking “I saw that” and then years later I see a version with a scene that I never knew was missing. Annoying, but I guess not the end of the world. Also, now we know to watch out for it,
Good theories for why they would do that, but I’m not sure we’ll ever know for sure. I know in some cases, scenes were removed because they had more explicit content like fisting which I suppose is a more legitimate reason. I remember Falcon films sometimes missing those scenes. Years later, when the censors were more lenient, they would release it again and include the missing scene.
It’s all kind of fascinating.
