Looks like his film career was brief – perhaps 1972-1975** (see below) – and many of his loops went on to various videotape collections like the Falcon Dimension Series. Other than ads, can’t seem to find photos in any periodicals like In Touch, Mandate, Honcho – and perhaps that’s if I am correct about him no longer performing after 1975 (these dates are estimates) these magazines were mostly post 1975.

**Dean Chasen – same guy?
While trying to find out more about Dean, I saw that Demystifying Gay Porn had a post – The many faces of gay erotic film star Dean Chasson – checked it out and he thinks Dean had a comeback in the 90’s. Ummmmm, I am not so sure – he gets a few things wrong in his piece, like the extent that Chasson worked for Falcon (one film, Taste My Love, not several) – the Dimension films later were sold by Falcon. And he thinks the 90’s Chasen did “a string of movies” for Catalina, but actually only two movies were made by this guy, they just showed up in half a dozen Catalina compilations! I could be wrong, so I’ll try to post a clip from one of these so you can compare and tell me what you think.

From a Manshots review of Head of the Class : “Chasen is the first in porn to have a recycled name; one of the more famous porn stars of the seventies was named Dean Chasson.” – by no means definitive proof that they are different men, but kinda leans that way, right?

I have been confused by the real Dean Chasson from the 1970’s & the Dean Chasen from Catalina mid-to-late 1980’s output. Are they the same guy? Catalina would know of Dean Chasson 1970’s work. His name is on purpose.
He’s an incredibly hot man! My favorite film is The Brothers.
I don’t think the Deans are the same guy, for one thing that’s an awfully big gap between original scenes (early to mid 70s all the way to the late 80s). Not unheard of, but I don’t see much of a resemblance even if you do add 10-15 years to him. The ears seem to be different sizes and the eyebrows don’t arc the same way.
The gevi page for the later one has a pretty good picture of him eating a banana, which is from the scene I know that guy from the best: Head Of The Class (1), the threeway in the kitchen with Eric Manchester and Billy London. That Dean puts an apron on over his white briefs and shakes his butt to the Costello P. song coming out of the radio, Eric and Billy leer at him from the hallway and surprise him, and the sex happens shortly after.
I can’t always see the times when guy A turns out to also be guy B but my hunch is that they just assigned him a similar porn name, or else he came that way (nobody comes that way! – random quote from Torch Song Trilogy for no real reason). There have been lots of actors using similar (or even identical) porn names though so I’m not even sure this would have been the first case but it’s a notable one that has led to confusion about both of them.
I have decided the Dean Chasson & Dean Chasen (1980’s) are two different models. They look similar, but, for the life of me, I can’t see the Dean Chasson from the 1970’s & early 1980’s output come back into porn with his two Catalina films, Head of the Class 1 (1987) & They Grow Em Big (1988).
Catalina might have marketed Dean Chasen differently had he been the Dean Chasson from the 1970’s. And they did not do that.

Let me commend you on yet another great, thorough, informative post! You truly earn the title historian, and “pornologist”. SmutJunkies has nothing on you! This post I find especially interesting, because of numerous factors.
As I’ve said before, a lot of the endless, early porn I saw in my frenzied youth; is now a blur. One reason why, is quite a number of the performers, had bland, nondescript, generic faces. A lot of the “skinny hippie types”, were pretty anonymous, if not, downright ugly.
Guys like Ray Fuller and Dean Chasson, initially missed my radar, though they do qualify as porn “stars”. Bill Harrison I remember, because of “Bijou (1972)”. He didn’t really turn me on, despite his big dick.
Now, I’m not saying Dean Chasson was unattractive; I just had a hard time recognizing him, unless he’s identified by name. Despite his brief history, he was quite prolific. I appreciate that he was versatile, and uninhibited. From some angles, I think he kind of resembles, comic, David Brenner.
His body was quite nice. Ta-Da! Once again I’m convinced, there’s a connection with being well-hung, and having a long torso!
Both “Seven in a Barn (1971)” and “Tuesday Morning Workout (1975)”; are pivotal movies in gay porn history. I mainly remember “The Naïve Hitchhiker (1975)”, because of dark, swarthy, Mike Delfino – Curly Top!
You do know of course (you better!), that “Seven…” was based on a popular porn novella from 1969. It also had the distinction of being the first gay porn film, with synchronized sound.

In 1975, Chasson posed for a fashion layout in “In Touch Magazine #16”. Why the fuck, did he use the alias of Jack Dodson? Was that his real name? The editors acknowledge that he was the star of “Tuesday Morning Workout”! So what gives?

Loooove the photo with Ledermeister! Just terrific. It does indeed look like the same gym as Tuesday Morning. that film had some gorgeous scenes featuring men with beautiful bodies like Dean Chasson. It’s like watching Greek statuary come to life and make love.
Although not really my ideal type, I have a great appreciation for Dean Chasson. I definitely see him as a gay porn beauty from the 1970s.
