Selo Films

I love the graphic for the film Gemini, but I find this ad from/for Selo Films to be kinda strange and/or misleading – doesn’t it make you think Jack Wrangler is in all these films from this production company? But actually he’s only in Gemini (1977) But why not make a post, with all the SELO Films in one place, as kind of a placeholder. I ought to at least try to get a preview video or two, eh? OK – enuf meandering – list of films, a few pics, some videos, ready to… (reserve the right to re-edit after hitting “publish”!) I guess the point is to look at a production company, rather than the too often, mistakenly credited distributor as the maker of vintage gay male porn. God bless Bijou Video for all they’ve preserved over the years, but they are primarily a distributor, and as far as I know, actually only produced a handful of films, perhaps mid 80’s or beyond? That’s another topic, for another day.

New team makes exceptional first film

Brothers (1973) – director: Jason Sato

“Mountain as a gay man who welcomes his straight soldier (Rick) brother home for a visit.”

I found this promotional preview somewhere on line, can’t recall where – and it looks like an interesting film. Alas, I don’t think I ever saw it on video as a complete film, but found just one scene, ironically from a compilation tape called Choice Cuts (- not sure “irony” is the right word when you’ve cut out random parts of a scene – pissing, perhaps a bit of S/M- and call it “choice” – the wrong choice!!! to edit out parts of an original film…. But I’m rambling again … where was I? Oh, that abbreviated scene is below. Too bad, but it’s likely the incest theme was too much for distributors by the time videotape came around. And isn’t one of the more note-worthy films that someone would be inspired to re-issue as a complete film (if that even exists anywhere) – but even the edited version, I’d like to see it – even just for the mustaches!

Hey, where’s the hot rod?


so let’s see, here’s the scene where Ray, the trucker, gets it on with Nick Rogers. Hard to say if it was chopped up, but it is true, in the least, that the jump from oral to anal was pretty darn sudden. My digital copy comes in at 85 minutes, and when I looked up an auction when I sold a VHS / Century Theater cassette (see image at bottom of post), my notes say 86 minutes – so now I have to find the VHS that I kept…. but I’m not hopeful – not because that endeavor could take hours/days/years, but if the difference of one minute from the original producer’s tape and anything else released on VHS or DVD makes me think it’s a lost cause. Meanwhile, here’s the clip we got, plus the closing titles – and I can can sure see why Obsessed is so concernstipated, as that brief moment of heavy kissing (doesn’t it look like Tom/Eddy Calhoun is going to swallow Nick’s chin?) during the closing credits is so hot, how could it NOT have been in the original scene! There is only 4 minutes of actual sex. Now, it is still possible it’s the full version, as sometimes after shooting, some film just doesn’t come out – poorly lit, etc. Ask Joe Gage and Jack Wrangler about that. Anyway, check out both clips, and see if you see Eddy Calhoun. I’m personally obsessed with the bald spot, as you never see an Eddy Calhoun photo from the back, at least not hatless…. that could be another clue, right?

(I may well have Bullet Videopac 6, which was the first VHS availability of the Target films, I think. The first clip is excellent, as it shows Jeff slurping down on Eric Ryan (who wouldn’t want to see that face, and feel that mouth???); the second, even shorter clip, mostly shows Eric’s great body and ass, oh yea, and COCK!, but a bit of Jeff’s handsome face.

It starts with Jeremy dreaming of Dak on the beach, but fortunately it’s only 6 minutes in when Jeff appears and it gets good! Spoiler alert, my favorite few seconds are when Jeff is licking up Jeremy’s tummy.

Brian Michaels


AKA Bobby Madison (mostly the Higgins films), I prefer Brian, as I most clearly remember noticing him in The Bigger the Better, as he was such a bossy bottom, really took the lead in the scene (as he did in other scenes, like in A Matter of Size , if I remember correctly – but my digital copy is kinda mangled – I digress). I thought the group scene from Hand In Hand might be fun, as it’s not seen very often – scroll down for that, and scroll down further to get the scene from Something Wild

A “short” directed by Robert Alvarez, Noon with J.D. Slater and others, this was part of the film from what was likely Brian’s last film, In Heat, (1986) . Hhhhhmmm. What do you think? Well-shot, but I miss Brian’s vocalizations – imagine him bossing JD around ? I think there was a lost opportunity here – not that the other guys didn’t have nice bodies – they all did – but Brian and JD just didn’t get the chance to really go at it, with all of Brian’s commands… notice that the last seconds, post-cum, has more passion than the previous 20 minutes!
