In a spectacular conclusion, (the scene shown above) Dawes has sex with the hustler while imagining himself getting topped first by hustler Michaels, then by the other characters (fictional & not), Beau Matthews (rare for him!), Matt Michaels, Ben Barker, and Chris Burns. They surround him on the bed for the climax. (note: no Giorgio Canali – I read in an unpublished interview with De Simone that he was unhappy with Canali’s performance, or rather, lack of it as he had sex off camera with Beau before their filming, and wasn’t turned on after that first, off-camera attempt!)



“theme” music – Need Somebody by STUFF (at least one other STUFF tune appears, This One’s For You) plus Jerry Goldsmith’s – The Wrong Clue, and The Last of Ida; plus Serenade In The Night from Primo Scala & His Accordion Band, Herb Alpert’s The Factory (during the Beau/Giorgio scene) and Beyond in the subsequent scene between Johnny & Michael; and of course, PINK FLOYD’s On The Run. I love that the director’s original choices for music withstood the transfer to VHS, etc (unlike the case in The Idol). You can tell the film and music editing was coordinated, not just a random slap up job.

I have to add (this year) that it is a favorite scene, because it’s Jack ACTING with a dream sequence that’s got awesome disco music! I wanted to add a bit of the final scene, when Jack and George finally “do it” – but there’s no hint of Christmas at all! But, and I’m looking at you, Yorj, it’s ripe for another group project to ID all the music – I say that because, while zipping through the film, I paused briefly at a scene I’ve rarely watched, George and Anna Freed (for very very obvious reasons), hear what I think is Oxygen, pt 4 but…. I come to discover, may be from McLane Explosion and their version of Oxygene! What? mind exploded! …. then I began to look for a decent link for McLane Explosion, and discover they also do a version of Magic Fly, which I always assumed was from SPACE – here’s the version I’ve always assumed was in the film, Magic Fly. so now, my first Xmas post, trying to do an update and not a copy/paste of previous years, and hours (many hours) later, my mind McSploded, I am at a loss for words.

blahblah blah… This is also the film with the wonderful Jack Wrangler blowjob in the helicopter flying over Manhattan skyline scene.

anyway, I know the suspense is killing you – “fuck off asshole I ain’t gonna do it!” – will he or won’t he? The setting, the dialogue, it’s getting me all, er, nostalgic – yes! nostalgic for my twenties living in NYC! This was supposed to be a simple post – nab the video, edit, nab some stills, post. But I made the “mistake” of looking for a good link – got it from our pal Yorj Yefferson/ over at REDDIT (see link to review below) but got distracted by getting caught up in ID’ing some of the music – and I found at least 2 tracks from The Warriors (The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) – (Theme From “The Warriors” and Baseball Furies Chase – which i am certain I have heard used in Joe Gage/Mac Larsen films…. but I digress) and I would bet there’s more pulled from that soundtrack. There’s another tune played during the Stanley Richards scene, again, familiar and likely to have shown up in another porno, most likely Gage/Larsen. but that’s for another post – or comments, who knows? and that’s why I have so many posts languishing in the drafts folder, waiting for one more link, one more pic, before hitting “publish.”

What I Like About You

I was working on something else, somehow wound up on my own A NIGHT AT HALSTED’S soundtrack page, and realized none of the music links worked! Aaaaaarrrghhh! So I had to figure out what was wrong, download, upload, update pages, and then figured all that and I bet the page hardly gets any hits any longer….

But back around – on gosh, don’t say it – the turn of the Century, someone found my geogities pages, after trying to figure out who the hell put cool music on a porno he was watching… long story short, he and another pal of mine spent weeks trying to ID each and find a digital version of each tune, and eventually got all 26. Then my Kansas buddy sent me a homemade CD of the final product.

If you look back at my earlier archives ( the “blogger years” – April 2001 to March 2010 ) – you can see some of my rambling on the topic – “night+at+halsted’s” Oh look – there was a time I was the only search result for “A NIGHT AT HALSTED’S SOUNDTRACK”, but if you keep the phrase in quotes, I’m 3rd, which is better than none. Anyway, all that and cover model for the film JW King, from an August 1982 HONCHO. Now that I’ve spent all this time talking about everything but the film, I think I need to revisit it, as I recall not enjoying it much, but for the plexiglass glory-hole scene. Kansas City Trucking Co. (1976) intro – yes, the first 30+ seconds the screen is black and you vaguely hear, a radio? And soon enuf, the haunting them by Al Steinman – til this day still gets me excited!
