Santa wears a jockstrap (rerun alert)

Navy Blue

directed by: Francis Ellie (1979)

Starring: George Payne and Brian Ray (Santa) – this scene; also stars Jack Wrangler, Giuseppe Welsh (helicopter), Adam DeHaven, Kurt Mann, Snapper Foster, Derek Thurston, and Anna Freed

This great scene from Navy Blue finds sailor George Payne wandering around Manhattan, stumbling upon a Santa raising money for charity (not to worry, it’s not a Salvation Army Santa, so you can enjoy guilt-free) who uses several awful double entendres to pick up sexy sailor George Payne.

and enjoy the crappy Xmas music soundtrack – “Sleigh Ride, by Leroy Anderson, then the “Ukrainian Bell Carol”!

wow! at first I thought it William Higgins – but then realized NOVA FILMS – but can’t figure out where! now it will no doubt haunt me until I figure it out

Here’s your blog post from 5-26-2014, where both you and Obsessed discuss the original song:

This Jimmy Michaels, who sings the newer song I linked to above, took the original Costello Presley tune, made a few changes to both the music and lyrics, and then credited him as a songwriter. It’s the only place on discogs where I could find any kind of music credit for Costello Presley. I’d love it if they released some of his music a la Patrick Cowley’s work, some of those Costello songs are really good. They get stuck in my brain, which isn’t always a bad thing. Anyway thought you might dig the porn connection :)

just as I was getting home, walking in the door, I’m thinking “make love to me, da da da da make love to me” —- ahhhhhhh!

I actually found another Costello remake just the other day, and it’s amazing! Do you remember the song Animal Reaction from the William Higgins film Route 69?

These guys (or just one guy, couldn’t tell) used the same 80s synth machines that Costello would have used, and did a spot-on recreation of the original. Thought you might like this too.
