who’s your friend, Paul?

Stumbled upon some very nice photographs with a very familiar face, by photographer Malcom Hoare. Of course, Paul is very familiar (but aren’t you really Joe Porcelli?), but his lovely partner while somewhat familiar, I haven’t a clue who he is. Any ideas? Meanwhile, I can see that while this may be from a French publication, the photos seem to have been taken on Fire Island… and there might be a Jack Deveau connection? (That tease is for another post). Which made this that must harder, as the 2nd photo the 2nd guy looks a bit like Matt Harper (AKA Will Seagers) who has done work for Deveau (but, alas, not Joe…errr, Paul)!

I was hoping to do a fuller post on photographer Michael Rock, and gay greeting card company ROCKSHOTS – but click that link and it’s broken! Who can forget the “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.” card??? I know he used Ron Raz a lot as a model (given the chance, who wouldn’t??!!), and if you click thru you’ll see Santa Ron. Michael Rock’s photos appeared in MANDATE (frequently in 1977, but other years as well), most notably the January 1980 issue (see pic below), including cover; also in at least the January 1983 Honcho, multiple issue of PLAYGUY…. Anyone else remember ROCKSHOTS?

oh wait – the Michael Rock / Rockshots article has been moved to the Archives – yeah!

who you may remember as DAN KENNEDY from NOVA films! (OK, just the one) Here he is from IN TOUCH #30 (1978) maybe before NOVA/Nebula got a hold of him, photographed by HY CHASE.

a few internet searches gets us a bit more – like Big Dick Dan (a whole heck of a lot of photos!! which makes me think there’s more searching to do in my In Touch collection) and as Harry Hungwell in a str8 porno clip!

Hy Chase, a photographer from the 1970’s, who I’ve come across most often in IN TOUCH magazine, has very little info online. I’ve had his name in my drafts folder (which is back up to 89!), and this is my “place holder” to remind me to do more research. Alas, I sold this publication in 2004!

This is from a Surge Studios spread in the July 1981 issue of Numbers – called Basic Plumbing. I’m pretty sure that is Al Parker’s arm helping out (somehow); speaking of Surge Studios – arrrrgggghhhh – why are BOTH links at my Mr. Parker post from 2014 broken??? arrrrgghhhh

photographer Joe Tiffenbach; Al Parker and Paul Underwood (who, under that name, doesn’t seem to have done any porn film work). It’s actually quite an extensive photospread – 23 pages – I just haven’t scanned the magazine yet, and alas, the quality of the print isn’t so great, which is not unusual for Numbers Magazine. Also of note, you see Al’s partner Steve Taylor later in the spread, so I think the cock in this pic may well be his.
