choice

searching old harddrive for “jockstrap”, results – including a couple named “choice” which I assume is a magazine I never owned, but nabbed a few highlights from – these are their stories…

I do not know this gentleman’s name, not the photographers identity

Buck

I did not know Buck Owen modeled for anyone besides Target – these pics by Usher, from the April 1981 issue of Honcho. According to JohnnyLlama, Buck also appeared in Honcho 1979-05, Mandate 1979-02, and Manscape 1989-04.

sigh. I wish I owned this issue of HONCHO, as I’d have a better quality scan!

far from the Branch

from the FALL 1986 issue of Manscape 2, photographer Starbuck (AKA Jon Target), that’s clearly Branch Lester getting his ass eaten, right? But(t), by who (m)??? No clue at the link for Branch’s only film – Branch Lester (1981) AKA Leatherman but look closely at the 8MM box – different film (Brute Force, pt 1: SADIST), and I am sure that’s Dan Pace (AKA Rocky Genaro) w/Fred Halsted and a blonde – likely from this film – Hell’s Dungeon pt 1 , amiright?

so, after that long diversion, back to – who the heck is the ass-eating mustached man??? ramble on! And another thing…. Starbuck’s (AKA Jon Target) photography shows up in these late 80’s early 90’s magazines, but why the name change? I’m guessing perhaps Jon’s Target Studio output was sold off, but he kept stuff, and re-sold under new name? Just a guess – but somebody somewhere must know, right?

peek a boo

I’m just beginning to collect a few issues of Bronc magazine (a Blueboy publication) that, surprise, specializes in cowboy themes. This issue, summmer of 1981 features photography from photographers D.J. Garret (I’ve seen this spelled differently) and Graven Image, without attributing which photos are from which photographer (but I’m pretty sure the pairing of Wayne & Kit is from D.J. Garret). This is SKY.
